It was about nine forty-five when I exited the elevator and walked through the casino floor in search of a restaurant. The place was packed and I felt a little self-conscious in my old sports jacket and jeans. I decided that I would definitely do some clothes shopping the next morning.
A security guard directed me towards the restaurants and I found a nice Italian place. I hated dining alone and wondered if I should have invited Cassidy to join me. Probably would have been inappropriate, I realised.
After a fine meal of linguini and clams accompanied by a couple of really nice single-malt whiskies, I strolled back towards the main casino floor.
Cassidy had earlier pointed out the High Roller’s enclosure and after searching the massive casino for a while I eventually found it.
I took a seat at a blackjack table that had three other players. I handed the dealer my players’ card and he asked what I would like. I asked for one hundred, ten thousand dollar chips and he shouted, “One million dollars out.”
This drew a few stares but not as many as I would have expected. A pit boss came over and after glancing at the stacks of chips he nodded to the dealer. He slid the five stacks of twenty chips over to me. Before I could even place my first bet an attractive cocktail waitress asked what I’d like to drink. I ordered a whiskey with a dash of water.
Then I slid five chips forward and held my breath. I was betting fifty thousand dollars, half my previous yearly salary. I had played blackjack many times before but nothing close to this large a bet. After he dealt the cards, I took a look at mine. Two aces, the dealer was showing a six. I immediately split the aces and pushed forward five more chips. I was now in for one hundred thousand dollars. The other three players declined to take any more cards so the dealer flipped a card on top of my first ace. A nine, I now had a soft twenty, so I pointed to the other ace. He flipped over a king, blackjack. He then flipped over his hole card, a jack. He drew another card, six, he bust. I let out a sigh of relief. I had just won one hundred and twenty- five thousand dollars in just a few minutes.
The cocktail waitress arrived and set my drink down next to me. I thanked her and handed her a five thousand dollar chip. She gave me a huge smile before walking off.
Feeling brave, I started betting ten chips at a time. I won eight of the next ten hands putting me over seven hundred thousand dollars up in less than an hour. Meanwhile the cocktail waitress was replacing my drink before I was even halfway through the previous one.

I slowly opened my eyes and glanced around the darkened room. Where the hell was I? My head was pounding and my mouth was dry. As everything swam into focus I was relieved to find that I was in my bedroom at the MGM.
I sensed a presence next to me on the bed. Through the gloom I could just make out the figure of a naked woman entangled in the sheets. Upon closer inspection I realised it was the cocktail waitress from the previous night. Sandy, I think her name was.
As my memory began to sluggishly return I managed to piece together the events of the previous evening. I had kept up my winning streak eventually retiring from the blackjack table at about two in the morning. I was up two and a half million dollars at that point and definitely feeling the effects of all the whiskies I’d consumed. Sandy had just finished her shift and wearing a sexy, little black dress, she suggested we head down the strip to celebrate. Never one to miss a good celebration, I agreed.
The hotel limo had dropped us off at a nightclub near the Convention Centre.
‘The Beach’ nightclub was a happening place packed with good-looking people drinking and dancing to the loud music. We headed to one of the crowded bars where I ordered my usual. Sandy pouted and told me to lighten up. She ordered a ‘cosmo’ and two tequilas. From my vague recollection that was the first of many shooters we happily enjoyed. After drinking and dancing the rest of the night away we eventually made it back to my suite at around five-thirty. It was light by then but there still seemed to be people everywhere. Sandy found a bottle of champagne in the fridge and we headed upstairs to my bedroom.
As far as I could remember the sex was really good. She had a smoking hot body and being only twenty-five years old, plenty of stamina. She also seemed eager to please, not surprising since I’d tipped her a total of twenty thousand dollars earlier while I was gambling. I wondered if this meant that I’d paid for sex, but I convinced myself that it didn’t.
After clearing up that moral conundrum, I snuck out of bed and slipped on my robe. I headed downstairs to find Harold waiting for me.
“Good afternoon sir.” He said. I glanced at the clock on the wall and saw that it was indeed one-thirty in the afternoon.
“Afternoon Harold.” I replied, a little embarrassed.
He seemed unfazed by my late arrival. “I’ve taken the liberty of ordering you a late breakfast. Will your guest be joining you?”
I wondered how he knew until I saw the little black dress neatly folded on a side table. I was about to answer no when Sandy came skipping down the stairs wearing one of the hotels thick, terry-cloth robes. I knew she was probably naked underneath it, and for a moment food was the last thing on my mind.
“I’m starving.” She said.
So much for that, I thought. She came up to me and gave me a big kiss. I wondered how she could be so perky while I felt as if I’d been run over by a truck.
There was a soft knock at the door and Harold went to answer. He returned pushing a room-service cart, which he off-loaded at the smaller kitchen dinette table. Once he was finished we took our seats and attacked the food with gusto.
I noticed that Harold had placed two Tylenol tablets next to my glass of orange juice. He doesn’t miss a thing I thought as I swallowed them.
A few minutes later I started feeling a little better. The greasy food together with the tablets seemed to be doing the trick.
After the meal we went back up to the bedroom for dessert, followed by a steaming hot shower. As we walked to the elevator a while later, I asked Sandy what time she started work.
“I’m off the next two days.” She replied. “I’d like to spend more time with you but I’ll leave if that’s what you want.” She continued in a small voice.
I actually enjoyed her company so I said. “Of course not, I need to buy some clothes right now, maybe you can help me pick out some things?”
“I’d love to.” She smiled. “Nothing makes a woman happier than clothes shopping.”
“We’ll get you a few outfits too.”
“That’s really not necessary, we can just swing by my place and I’ll pick up some stuff.”
“Don’t be silly. Consider it payment for being my personal shopper.”
I decided not to purchase the clothes at the hotel. I felt bad enough that I’d won so much money already, I didn’t want them paying for my clothes as well.
When I told Sandy she clapped her hands. “I know just the place, Forum shops at Caesars.”
